Employer Profile |
Aptec, (short for Appropriate Technology Plc), was founded in London, the UK in 1980. A highly innovative company which designed printers and software drivers, its products were instant hits in the European and Middle East markets. The founder, Dr. Ali Baghdadi had a keen interest in transferring technology to his home country, Ali's team started working on Arabic operating systems and applications. Aptec's operations in the Middle East started as early as 1982.
Aptec Egypt was established in 1985 whereby marketing its own brands of hardware and software. The year 2005 marks the 20th anniversary of Aptec in Egypt. In 1987 it was awarded exclusive distribution by Epson and in 1992 sole distributorship was awarded to Aptec by Microsoft. In 1996, Aptec Egypt became the largest software and hardware distributor in Egypt. The company grew into a Value Added Distributor of computer peripherals and software selling to the trade.
In the Middle East over 95% of our revenues are made with almost 20 suppliers. This concept allows us to establish strong and close relationships with each of these suppliers and at the same time to optimize our efficiency in logistics. This in return will ensure that Aptec can deliver its products at competitive price levels and can guaranty a constant supply of products from stable and reliable suppliers.
Our challenge now is to enable our partners to maximize their profits through innovative and creative opportunities. With the added strength of our partners, we have no doubt that our aggressive growth plans will be exceeded and shared with all organizations working with us.
Aptec in Egypt is thus selective in choosing the best products distributed to effectively promote their names, e.g.: APC, HP, D-Link, Microsoft, McAfee, Fujitsu Siemens, Symantec and Veritas.
The mobile business was later introduced to expand the company's business. APTEC added to its range of products Sony Ericsson and MobiNil (the first mobile operator in Egypt). Hence, it has become the first regional IT distributor to add a mobile phone to its vendor portfolio.
By focusing on a narrow range of the best brand products, we become experts in what we sell and have become the largest position with our vendors. Our sheer business volume leading position with our vendors brings us many benefits, which we pass on to our resellers and partners.
Our formula may seem simple, but it requires a great deal of investment and expertise. We have numerous locations in the Middle East, a highly sophisticated order processing and warehousing computer system and over 170 staff who are continually trained on products and customer support. Our team has access to any of our 7 warehouses in the Middle East, which are designed to deliver products to our customers in the fastest and most economic way. Dr. Ali A. Baghdady is Chairman of Aptec Group and Essam Baghdady is Regional Vice Chairman. Aptec Branches are located in the UK, UAE, KSA, Egypt, Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon and South Africa.
Our challenge now is to enable our partners to maximize their profits through innovative and creative opportunities. With the added strength of our partners, we have no doubt that our aggressive growth plans will be exceeded and shared with all organizations with us.
